Account verification requests
This year Arizona Federal has contracted accounting firm Clifton Gunderson, LLP to perform an audit of account balances. In October they will randomly select members and mail them a letter requesting this information. This audit contributes to the safety and soundness of the credit union’s operations.
Hale Scholarship award winners
 Arizona Federal and 100 Black Men of Phoenix awarded Terrence Brown, Jr. and Nafis Shamsid-Deen the annual Michael Hale Scholarship award. This $2,000 scholarship was established by Arizona Federal in recognition of the contributions made by Michael Hale, Arizona Federal’s former president and CEO, who also served as chairman of 100 Black Men of Phoenix’s Mentorship Education Network (M.E.N.).

All Arizona Federal branches will be closed on the following dates:
- Columbus Day - Monday, October 9, 2006
- Veteran’s Day - Saturday, November 11, 2006
- Thanksgiving Day - Thursday, November 23, 2006
- Christmas Day - Monday, December 25, 2006
- New Year’s Day - Monday, January 1, 2007
Board of Directors nominations available
The annual nominating process to fill three positions on Arizona Federal’s Board of Directors is now underway. Current Arizona Federal members may apply for nomination to the Board of Directors by submitting an application package. All applications for nomination will be reviewed by the nominating committee, and selected candidates will be interviewed. Nomination applications must be received by November 1, 2006. You may request an application package in any Arizona Federal branch, or by calling the Marketing department at (602) 683-1556.
Look for two new branches by the end of the year!
The South Mountain Village branch, located at 1505 E. Southern (west of 16th St. on Southern) and a new Fry’s In-Store branch in Buckeye at the intersection of Yuma and Watson will both open by the end of the year.
