Fight identity theft with our new SURE account.
Everyday we face new challenges in dealing with identity theft — from the vulnerability of our paper mail to e-mail viruses and “phishing” attacks. We live in a world where each of us has to be on the offensive in protecting our personal security.
According to the Federal Trade Commission, Arizona is ranked first in identity theft complaints among all states, and everyone is susceptible to the con of ID theft.
Arizona Federal is now at the forefront of combating identity theft. On July 2, we’re launching a new type of checking and savings account called the SURE Account, which will help members fight against the threat of identity theft by trading convenience for security.
Our SURE Account will have protections such as:
- Third party notification. A trusted third party (named by the member) is notified when a suspicious transaction occurs.
- Transaction limits. Members can select daily or monthly limits for selected transaction types.
- Delays in processing certain transactions.
- No online access. For added security, members with the SURE Account will not be able to utilize CU Online.
The SURE Account was inspired by Attorney General Terry Goddard’s Fraud Fighter initiative. “Identity theft is a crime of convenience. Let’s make it inconvenient for identity thieves,” said Attorney General Goddard.
The SURE Account is not for everyone. Some members would prefer not to sacrifice the convenience of online banking and limitless transactions for extra peace of mind. However, others may feel that the security features of our SURE Account are worth the trade.
